Consciousness and non-locality (II). Scientific evidence for a perpetual and ubiquitous non-locality. Teleportation of information, energy and matter
by Steve Randolf, PhD
Part I of this article discussed how various theoretical models, like theories of everything, consciousness, and psi, suggest the presence of a universal and continuous form of non-locality, which is different from the well-known concept of quantum entanglement. What sets psi theories apart is that there is substantial empirical evidence supporting them, even though they challenge mainstream academic beliefs. Psi phenomena such as clairvoyance, precognition, telepathy, and micropsychokinesis, have been well-documented, even in mainstream media. However, there are other less-explored phenomena, such as macro-psychokinesis, thoughtography, and teleportation, which suggest the idea of carrier-less energy transfer. All these phenomena share a common element: they can be explained considering a ubiquitous and everlasting form of non-locality.
1. Carrierless information transfer. Remote viewing and ganzfeld protocols
There is substantial evidence indicating that consciousness can access accurate information about entities located at a distance in both space and time, without the need for any kind of transmission medium, such as waves or particles. Although this statement may seem exaggerated at first glance, it deserves serious consideration.
Delving into the realm of parapsychological research reveals an abundance of serious scientific data, which unfortunately remains largely overlooked and even suppressed by mainstream science and society at large. These phenomena have been unfairly stigmatized with derogatory labels like "controversial" or "pseudoscience." Furthermore, even terms that were originally neutral, such as "parapsychology," "paranormal," "extrasensory," and "supernatural," now carry negative connotations due to years of rejection, persecution, and ridicule. While there are many reasons behind this unwarranted censorship, exploring them is beyond the scope of this work (though it could be a fascinating subject for another article).
Nonetheless, this situation is profoundly unfortunate because a detailed analysis of these phenomena could provide a wealth of empirical data to serve as a foundation for the future development of both psi and consciousness theories. Moreover, it could have implications for various other fields, including quantum biology, the Theory of Everything (TOE), cosmology, and more. It holds the potential to yield groundbreaking discoveries.
To begin with, there are numerous studies, including extensive meta-analyses, offering overwhelming support for the existence of these effects, even in individuals without specific training or special abilities (Radin, 2006; Tressoldi, 2010).

Among the various forms of ESP, telepathy has received extensive study, often using a laboratory protocol called ganzfeld. Only between 1974 and 2008, over 100 articles and six meta-analyses of such experiments were published, revealing a success rate well above what would be expected by chance (31.5 %). The combined probability of these results is extraordinarily low, at 1x10-11 (Tressoldi et al., 2010).
Clairvoyance, another form of ESP, has also undergone thorough scientific investigation. In the early 1970s, the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) developed a protocol known as controlled remote viewing (CRV), showing promise for military espionage purposes. This development led to a series of classified projects, collectively known as "Star Gate," which were developed for over 20 years and received over $20 billion in funding from various governmental agencies, primarily military organizations. Notable contributors included the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and other entities such as the CIA, which currently hosts the declassified program archives (May & Marwaha, 2018). The effect size observed in these studies was moderate, between 0.4 and 0.7 (Targ, 2019).

Some tests were conducted with the viewer situated in an electromagnetically shielded room, yet the shielding did not affect the quality of the results. In fact, Ingo Swann, the initial remote viewer and developer of the CRV protocol, was recruited for the first Star Gate project after Stanford personnel observed him influencing the readings of a theoretically immutable highly shielded magnetometer, while he was remote-viewing its interior (Swann, 1996). All attempts thus far to detect psi-mediating waves or particles have proven unsuccessful (Irwin & Watt, 2007).
Swann demonstrated that anyone could be successfully trained in remote viewing. Due to this success, a second Star Gate laboratory was established at Fort Meade, with the specific objective of training military personnel for intelligence purposes. Swann published a concise book in 1991 that allows any sufficiently open-minded individual to initiate remote viewing within minutes and obtain personal proof of the phenomenon's authenticity (Swann, 1991). The author of this article personally embarked on this journey with extraordinary results.

Some of the groundbreaking research in the field of extrasensory perception has broken through the barriers of censorship and found its way into some of the most respected mainstream journals. Notably, Stanford physicists and Star Gate project managers Russel Targ and Harold Puthoff published a paper on remote viewing in Nature (1974). Several years later (1994), Cornell University psychologist Daryl Bem published a paper on ganzfeld telepathy in the Psychological Bulletin (Bem & Honorton, 1994). While there are additional examples, this article does not aim to provide an exhaustive list of such references.

It is also worth noting that the Japanese technology giant Sony operated for nearly a decade a dedicated laboratory, referred to as ESPER, focused on researching clairvoyance and eyeless sight as reported in a now-declassified Star Gate document from 1989. Additionally, Sony had another laboratory named the Pulsegraph lab, which primarily researched Chinese qigong healing. According to the mentioned report, Sony's researchers were fully convinced of the authenticity of the psi phenomena they were investigating. In 1998, Sony spokespersons officially acknowledged the reality of the psi phenomena studied in these labs. Unfortunately, the research had to be discontinued because there were no prospects of developing marketable products based on their findings (Fortean, 1998).

All this research seems to provide significant support for the teleportation of information, since as mentioned, the information transmission has been found to occur without an information carrier in the form of radiation, sound or particles. In any case, such carriers are meaningless in the case of precognition or retrocognition, which have been found to be virtually indistinguishable from clairvoyance and telepathy (Radin, 2006).
2. Carrierless energy transfer. Telekinesis and thoughtography
Another closely related phenomenon, often referred to as psychokinesis or telekinesis, is particularly intriguing from a theoretical perspective. It lends itself to study using methods akin to those employed in physics laboratories. Most modern research has focused on what is known as micro-psychokinesis, which involves subtle yet statistically significant effects of consciousness on random events, such as dice tossing and random number generation (Radin, 2006; Irwin & Watt, 2007).
Conversely, there are macroscopic manifestations of psychokinesis, where individuals can move everyday objects with their minds. Macro-psychokinesis is particularly fascinating from a theoretical standpoint due to its deterministic nature. However, it is interesting to note that modern research in this area is relatively limited, possibly because of the prevailing belief that only highly gifted individuals can demonstrate such abilities. Nonetheless, it can be shown that individuals with little or no training can produce easily measurable effects using simple tools like psi wheels or torsion pendulums (Randolf, 2023).

One major advantage of conducting macro-PK tests is that the experimenter can also serve as the subject, thus eliminating the need to search for and validate external subjects. Consequently, the well-known experimenter effect, which refers to the psychological or telepathic influence of researchers on subjects, is also eliminated.
Moreover, while in the case of ESP it can be inferred that information transmission involves energy transfer (according to information theory, information transfer is always accompanied by energy transfer), in the case of PK, this connection is explicit. Conscious or subconscious manipulation of energy distribution can lead to the creation of complex, time-dependent spatial patterns. Even simple psi-wheel experiments reveal a dynamic energy distribution reminiscent of the oscillating magnetic fields in electric motors (Randolf, 2023).

When the energy density is exceptionally high, as seen in the case of the qi emitted by skilled qigong masters or gifted TK practitioners, complex mental projections can be generated. These projections may take the form of two-dimensional images on photographic media and even three-dimensional projections directly into the air.
There are several documented instances of photographic recording of mental images, commonly known as thoughtography. Tokyo University psychologist Tomokichi Fukurai dedicated years of research (Fukurai, 1931) to several subjects (Chizuko Mifune, Ikuko Nagao, Sadako Takahashi, and Koichi Mita) who demonstrated such abilities. Unfortunately, his pursuit of this research ultimately cost him his academic position (Takasuna, 2012).

Decades later, Columbia College Psychiatrist Jule Eisenbud conducted in-depth research (Eisenbud, 1967) on a subject named Ted Serios, who displayed the remarkable ability to produce high-quality photographic images on photosensitive paper inside a Polaroid camera even with its lens cap on. Interestingly, no amount of electromagnetic or X-ray shielding could prevent the formation of these images. An article by Eisenbud on this subject also appeared in a book on psychic exploration, edited by Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell (1974).

More recently, the Russian prodigy Nina Kulagina was tested in over a dozen prestigious scientific research centers, with many renowned scientists publicly endorsing the authenticity of her abilities (Swanson, 2003). Inspired by Ted Serios (Keil, 1982; Kulagin, 1991), Kulagina could mentally draw simple shapes on photographic film placed inside opaque envelopes. Researchers also observed that the film would be exposed as if it were illuminated when placed close to Kulagina's head while she moved objects telekinetically. Electromagnetic screening failed to prevent the telekinetic movement or the generation of strong electric fields near the moved objects. This suggests a clear indication that the subject's energy might be teleported to the objects.

China is known for its active promotion of psi research, protection, and training of psychics (Dong & Raffill, 1997). One of its remarkable psychics, Sun Chulin, was employed full-time by Professor Shen Jinchuan in the Human Body Science Research Laboratory at China University of Geosciences. As indicated in her autobiography (2023), her contract was "authorized by the leaders." Although she possessed natural psychic abilities, researchers further arranged further training for her in qigong and Chinese medicine, significantly enhancing her skills. Among many extraordinary demonstrations, Chulin could perform eyeless sight and thoughtography.

Another manifestation of the transfer and shaping of human bioenergy is localized burning and melting, demonstrated by many qigong masters (Randolf, 2023). Sun Chulin, who could even melt metal coins, produced traces as thin as 1.3 microns on a gold-plated silicon wafer in a particular study (Chun et al, 1999).

3. The unconceivable: Simultaneous information, energy and matter teleportation. 3D thought projections, phase transitions and materialization
In addition to her telekinetic abilities and other remarkable feats such as blindfolded vision and inducing physiological changes, including skin burns, in both humans and animals, Nina Kulagina demonstrated the ability to produce a peculiar mist inside a tube. This mist was dense enough to scatter light to the extent that it impeded the passage of a laser beam.
The author of this text has complete trust in Chris Fazio, a qigong practitioner who has developed through qigong an extraordinary ability to generate and emit bioelectricity (Randolf, 2023). In video footage provided by Chris, an evolving pattern consisting of some misty blobs resembling the taijitu symbol (☯) could be observed between his hands while he is intently focusing on creating a qi ball. It is evident from the video that these blobs are not random shapes and they are visible due to their light-scattering properties.

It is intriguing to note that more extreme forms of this phenomenon have been documented since the late 19th century, during the hype of mediumistic séances and many respected public figures, including Pierre Curie, Sir William Crookes, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, were involved in researching them.
During these séances, certain mediums would enter a hypnotic trance state and evoke what was then believed to be materializations of spirits. Typically, tissue-like shapes would emerge from their body orifices and transform into body parts or faces, often with a somewhat cartoonish appearance. After a brief period, these shapes would vanish, leaving no trace as if they had never existed. These shapes were typically in shades of black and white and had a texture akin to soft matter. In many cases, they were consistent enough so that copies could be made by submerging in molten wax. The term ectoplasm was invented by French physiologist and Nobel Prize winner Charles Richet.
Thorough research soon revealed that most of the ghostly shapes were images originating from the subconscious minds of the mediums rather than the souls of the deceased. Physicians such as Baron von Schrenck-Notzing (1923) and Thomas Hamilton (1942) conducted extensive investigations on this subject, documenting their findings with numerous photographs and taking rigorous measures to eliminate any possibility of fraud.

Some unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) have characteristics that resemble three-dimensional projections of consciousness. This perspective could potentially explain their wide range of forms and behaviors that often defy common sense, such as their often extraordinary speed of movement and instantaneous turns without apparent deceleration and acceleration. Recent research conducted by scientists affiliated with Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell's foundation, now known as the CCRI (Consciousness and Contact Research Institute), appears to support this view by proposing that UFOs are consciousness-projected holograms (Hernandez, 2022).

Certain mind-over-matter experiments appear to influence directly the structure of matter, as evidenced by a body of literature. Oxford physicist John Hasted conducted research on the renowned spoon bender Uri Geller, among others, and documented his findings in a book (1981). He also delved into various other paranormal phenomena associated with Geller.
Hasted measured strain, hardness and magnetic susceptibility distributions among other magnitudes and confirmed that the metals bend due to the psychic action. He also observed that the metals softened without any increase in temperature. A shorter report published in the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research on this topic garnered the attention of researchers associated with the Star Gate program, with a copy of it now being available on the CIA's website.

Boeing engineer Jack Houck conducted numerous public shows known as "PK parties," during which crowds of people engaged in metal bending of steel objects such as spoons, forks, bolts, and thick rods. On some occasions, individuals were even able to bend the bow of a spoon, a feat virtually impossible under normal conditions (Schmicker, 2002). According to Houck (2004), even hardened steel objects like hacksaw blades would soften and bend without breaking, rendering their hardness similar to that of annealed steel after the bending. These tests undeniably suggest the occurrence of phase transitions.

Yan Xin, a renowned Chinese physician and healer, along with ten other researchers from China and the USA (2002), reported temporal and reversible modifications to the molecular structure of water, as evidenced by Raman spectroscopy. The team conducted these experiments multiple times, sometimes from a distance of up to 7 km, consistently observing a strong and broad Raman band appearing at 1000-3000 cm-1 after Xin’s qi treatment, which then disappeared after a couple of hours.
Xin was also shown to be capable of altering the radioactivity of 241Am, a feat impossible to achieve by modifying physical conditions such as temperature, pressure, electromagnetic fields, or chemical environments. These measurements were conducted using a gamma-ray spectrometer and a solid-state nuclear track detector. In some experiments, Xin deliberately decreased the radioactive decay rate, while in others, he increased it. In a particular test, Xin managed to produce a 10 % increase in radioactivity in a sample located 1900 km away, a modification significantly exceeding experimental error margins.

One of the most astonishing forms of mind-matter interaction is teleportation. Surprisingly, there are scientific accounts of this phenomenon. One such report was published and signed by a dozen researchers from the Chinese Institute of Atomic Energy, with its translation appearing in a declassified CIA document, apparently associated with the Star Gate program (Li et al., 1990). This report details several teleportation tests conducted with an extraordinary subject named Zhang Baosheng in the presence of 20 senior researchers. The tests included:
- Shifting a coin from one closed envelope to another.
- Taking the hands out of a mechanical wristwatch through the skin of the closed palm of Dr. Li (the first author of the research paper).
- Removing several small objects from a bottle and rematerializing them on the surface of the table where the bottles were placed. Notably, a YBCO superconductive magnetic sensor remained functional after teleportation. Another object, a sample of radioactive isotope 241Am, maintained its level of radioactivity. A sample of α-iron Mösbauer absorber was also characterized with Mösbauer spectroscopy before and after the test and was found to remain unchanged. Several other tests were conducted on these and other objects, but no significant changes were detected.

Paul Dong, in his work with Raffill (1997), shares various anecdotes about Baosheng's exceptional skills and life. Dong describes Chinese research and training of children who could perform demonstrations of teleportation, blindfold reading, telekinesis, and more. According to Dong, there are many people in China capable of teleportation, and he references numerous Chinese government research efforts in this field.
A study on Chinese children capable of performing teleportation was reported in the Journal of Scientific Exploration (Shen, 2010). This report describes a telekinetic experiment involving a 17-year-old boy who had received ESP training at Fudan University. After approximately 40 minutes of concentration, the boy successfully teleported a piece of paper from a closed container on a table to the nearby floor. This experiment was conducted in the presence of two researchers and five guest observers.

Sun Chulin has also been reported to perform similar and even more extraordinary demonstrations (Jinchuan, S., 2015). These include teleporting large objects into bottles with openings too small for normal insertion, teleporting objects into locked desks, increasing the size of objects, and more. Sun's extraordinary skills also encompass speeding up seed germination (Bai et al, 2000), ripening fruits, heating and burning objects at a distance, eyeless sight, telekinetically moving objects in confined spaces, and many more.

Uri Geller has also been reported to perform teleportation in multiple instances, often spontaneously. While most reports are not from laboratory tests, Swanson (2003) provides a compilation of anecdotal evidence of such events, including tests conducted at Stanford Research Institute with physicists Puthoff and Targ in the early years of the Star Gate program and another test in front of physicists at the University of London.

4. Recapitulation
The ancient concept of interconnectedness has garnered support from numerous scientists and, more recently, has received substantial theoretical backing from experimental and theoretical physics. However, the current notion of non-local correlations, in the form of quantum entanglement, appears to require an extension to a stable and omnipresent type of non-locality to attempt an understanding of psi phenomena and consciousness.
Parapsychology offers a wealth of information on psi manifestations, all of which seem to involve some form of carrier-less transfer of information, energy, matter, or combinations thereof. In the case of clairvoyance, information transfer is readily apparent, while macro-psychokinesis, thoughtography, and the generation of ectoplasm also indicate energy transfer.
Ectoplasm seems to represent a state of matter intermediate between electromagnetic energy and normal matter, dynamically projected into space like a hologram. There is evidence of phase changes and compositional alterations in ordinary matter as well. Most astonishingly, scientific reports exist concerning the teleportation of matter.
How could teleportation even be possible? To teleport an object, one would need to copy all the information defining it, transmit it to another location in space, and then use it to construct an exact clone while "erasing" the original object. Is this possible? As shown in Part I of this article, what is known as quantum teleportation involves the transmission of qubits (quantum information) utilizing quantum entanglement and a conventional transmission channel. However, this is a different process.
Modern physics treats both matter and information as energy. Once referred to as "elementary particles" are now more appropriately named quanta, representing quantized (discreet) waveforms. There are no particles orbiting atomic nuclei; instead, there are energy distributions oscillating in hard-to-imagine ways. These waveforms are mathematically described as boundless probability distributions. Electrons, quarks, photons, and other quanta are virtually distributed throughout the entire universe, with specific regions where the energy is more likely to be detected. This aligns with our hypothesis of ubiquitous and permanent non-locality.
According to the latest developments in string theory, all elementary particles are merely different energy oscillation patterns. This provides one more justification for Einstein's famous special relativity equation, equating mass and energy. Today, these elementary particles or quanta are used for transferring and manipulating information through technologies mentioned in Part I, constituting a new field known as quantum information science.
With these fundamentals, one can envision all types of matter as specific energy field distributions encoded by a set of quantum and spatio-temporal parameters, essentially information. Using additional parameters, entire objects and object assemblies could be equated to information.
On one side, we have non-zero energy density corresponding to various quanta distributed in space, including in a vacuum. On the other side, information seems to be holographically distributed throughout the universe, including within our minds. Parapsychological research suggests that accessing this information does not require understanding or rationalization but rather inhibiting the conscious mind.
If information is indeed ubiquitous, there is no need for an information transmission channel, and energy distributions could be shifted from one region of space to another. Therefore, our minds might, in principle, be capable of redistributing energy density, thereby moving objects, modifying, creating, and even destroying matter without the need for conventional transmission channels using waves/particles.
Even though this discussion is speculative in nature, and might sound absurd to many unaware of the existing empirical evidence, it might well turn out to be a good way towards rationalizing the seemingly impossible phenomena described. Let us not forget that historically, the most extraordinary scientific advances have been made based on seemingly ludicrous hypotheses.
